Betty made a pizza. It smells delicious, but it tastes too strong. Daming doesn’t like cheese, because it doesn’t smell fresh. Lingling made some cholocate cookies. They taste really sweet. Lingling is wearing a lovely sweater, and it feels very soft and comfortable. They both look very smart. Sally sounds really nice, and she looks very pretty in her photo.
Thanks for your last message, it was great to hear from you. You sound great fun snd I can’t wait to meet you. Thanks for telling me about what you like doing. I love dancing, and I enjoy sports as well. I’m very proud of my brother. I work hard at school. I feel stupid when I get bad marks and I get angry with myself. I’m always sorry when I do something wrong, so please help me do the right things when I’m with you in China. Oh, and I’m afraid of flying. But I’m excited about coming to China.
So show me your map of Beijing, Lingling. Here’s Tian’anmen Square. On the left, over there, is the Great Hall of the People. And on the right is the National Museum of China. Go straight ahead, the Forbidden City is opposite Tian’anmen Square. Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is between the Great Hall of the People and the museum. Go across the square. Turn left into Chang’an Jie and turn right into Changjie. I think there’s an entrance of Beihai Park on the corner of Chang Jie and Wenjin Jie.
Welcome to this short tour of London. In this square we are standing in the middle of London. Opposite is the National Gallery, a museum with lots of famous paintings. Turn left and go to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Opposite you see the London Eye. You can see most of London on a clear day. When you are tired, the best way to see London is by boat. Get off the boat at Tower Bridge. There you can see the Tower of London next to the bridge.

It was interesting to learn about the Wolong Panda Reserve. But it’s sad to think about all those animals in danger. We need to protect them better. It isn’t right to kill whales or elephants for their meat, but it’s hard to stop the killing. Many animals have no place to live in, because we’re taking away their lands and forests. We have also made their water dirty. So we need to help the animals live in peace. But many people decide not to think about it. What on earth can we do? Let’s find out what we can do to save them…
M9 Unit 2
The panda is one of the animals most in danger. There are about 1000 pandas living in nature reserves today. Pandas live in forest and mountains of Southwest China. They mainly live on bamboo. The area of bamboo is becoming smaller for different reasons, so pandas have less and less land to live on. Our government is working hard to save pandas. It has made a new plan to help pandas. The nature reserves will be bigger and the bamboo will grow better. Then the pandas will have enough food to eat and enough place to live in. The panda is one of the best-known animals in the world. The WWF works to protect all animals in danger, so the panda has become the symbol of all animals in danger. There is still a long way to go to save the panda. We need to work harder to save them.

Sally and I went to Lao She Teahouse last night. Sally’s main interest is music, and she wanted to see some Beijing Opera. I wanted to see the teahouse, so my parents offered to take us there. You can drink tea and see some opera. I tried to understand it, but it was almost impossible. We only planned to have some tea, but we decided to stay for two hours. We had a good time. It was interesting. I hope to understand more next time. By the way, Lao She was a famous writer. He’s especially famous for his play, Teahouse. The story happens in a Beijing teahouse.
M10 Unit 2
Lao She wrote Teahouse in 1957.The play takes place in a Beijing teahouse and it tells us story of Wang Lifa and his customers. The story starts in 1898 during Qing Dynasty. It brings the audience to the end of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945. After the war, Wang loses the teahouse and he dies.
Lao She was born in Beijing in 1899. He wrote many plays, novels and short stories. He was named a “people’s Artist” and a “Great Master of Language”. In Lao She Teahouse today, waiters bring tea to the customers and sell them delicious Chinese food. If you like Beijing Opera, folk music, acrobatics or magic shows, you can enjoy them in the teahouse. Lao She Teahouse gives a wonderful welcome to everyone from China and from all over the world.
Some friends are talking about presents for Lingling’s birthday next week. Tony are going shopping for the present. He says it’s really cold. He is also going to England, he thinks it may not be cold, just wet. Betty might go to Australia. She guesses it’s probably be hot and sunny. Daming is off to Hongkong. It may be quite cool, but it’ll probably be dry.
You can choose any time you like to visit the USA. New York and Washington are good places to visit in May or October. It’s not too hot then. The best plan is to arrive in New England in September, if you may want to take photos of the autumn leaves. Bring your swimsuit in Los Angeles, because you might want to swim in the sea. It’s pleasant to visit Alaska in July and August, but don’t come in winter. It’ll be dark all day and freezing cold. In Texas and the southeast, there are storms from time to time in summer and fall.
On birthday party, everyone is talking about the traditions:
1. In the USA, when someone gives you a present, you must open it immediately. But in China, you mustn’t.
2. When you accept a present, you must use both hands, but in Britain you can use one hand.
3. You must wrap hongbao in red paper, you can’t use white, blue or black.
4. You mustn’t do any cleaning on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
5. You can’t cut your hair and must eat lots of jiaozi.
Here are some different traditions in England:
1. You usually shake hands with people when you meet them for the first time. But after that, you can just say hello.
2. You must say Mr and Mrs when you speak to older people, but you can use first names with your friends.
3. You can only drink tea at a tea party, not coffee or juice. You must drink tea with milk. You must pour the tea, then the milk.
4. In buses or trains, you mustn’t talk too loudly and you can’t even use your mobile phones.
5. The man and the woman can’t see each other the night before the English wedding.
