Winter is the season that comes after fall and before spring. Winter is usually the coldest time of year and in some places, it brings cold temperatures, snow, and ice with it. Even places that don’t get snow or freezing cold weather still have a winter season. Here are a few ways to tell about winter:
The days are shorter and the nights are longer than during any other season. December 21st is the first day of winter, because it is the shortest day of the whole year!
The sun doesn’t shine as warmly on the earth during the winter, even on the brightest days. Trees and plants usually go dormant(like they’re sleeping) or else die so when you look outside, you’ll see more brown than green.
Winter is a wet season, with lots of rain or snow. The changes that winter brings influence people, animals, plants and trees. Trees and plants go dormant to live through the cold and some animals hibernate while others store up food in the fall to eat during the winter when it gets harder to find food.
Now let’s learn more about hibernation. In winter, some animals become different by growing a white colored winter coat to match with snow. Everybody in this world is different from one another. But do you know that understanding differences can help you better manage your money?
As we grow up, we gradually develop a set of our own values or beliefs. These are influenced by society, our family, the education we receive and so on. Once this value system is set up, it's not easy to change later in life.
Financial experts say that everyone also has their own belief of how to manage their finances. This is part of our value system and it has a great impact on the way we look after our money.
According to our different values, experts put us in three categories. They are: the ant, the cricket and the snail(蜗牛).
The ant－works first
Just like ants who work heart and soul in summer in order to store food for winter, these people don't care about enjoying the moment. They work very hard and save money they earn so that they can [来源:学+科+网Z+X+X+K]enjoy life when they get old and retire. The ant loves to save but they could make more out of their money if they were willing to invest in some funds and stocks with low risk.
The cricket－fun first
The cricket wants to enjoy everything now and doesn't think too much about the future. They even borrow money when they really want something. Many young people now belong to this group. These people have little savings. When they get old, they might have problems. They should learn to save and buy insurance.
The snail－lives under pressure
The snail refers to people who make life difficult for themselves. They take big long－term loans from the bank in order to buy things such as luxury houses. They are happy to take big loans even though they are not sure whether they can afford it. This can cause problems in the future. They should plan more carefully.

C. Save money they earn for their later life when they get old and retire
D. Only care about enjoying the moment by working very hard[来源:学+科+网Z+X+X+K]
34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the last paragraph?
A. The snails enjoy life because they have luxury houses.
B. The snails live under pressure and they may have problems in the future.
C. The snails will take more loans if they realize that they can afford it.
D. The snails take big long-term loans because the interest for the long-term loans is low.
35. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
A. To make fun of the three kinds of foolish people.
B. To make us understand the differences and manage our money better.
C. To make us understand we should spend our own money.

How to spend our time properly
Where has our time gone? How should we spend our time properly?
As students, it is important for us to study, so we should make a plan for every day. Most of all, we should listen carefully in class. For homework, we need to make a list and work out how much time we need, and then finish them one by one. Hobbies are also important in our lives and different students have different kinds of hobbies. They can make us feel happy and confident. But we don’t need to spend so much time on them. So we should achieve a balance between our study and our hobbies.
In other ways, we need time, too. For example, we often spend a lot of time talking with our friends at lunchtime and watching TV at the weekends.
If so, I’m sure we will live a happier school life.
