What is the hottest topic at your school? In Hangzhou Yongjin Middle School, it’s money.
The school had an activity called “making a living” recently. About 800 Junior 1 and Junior 2 students were divided into 112 teams. They went out to make money by selling things.
What did they choose to sell? Some sold newspapers; some chose bottled water; some sold environmentally friendly shopping bags and bamboo baskets.
Huqi’s team decided to sell educational books in front of the Children Activity Centre. They thought parents would like to buy books for their children. But unfortunately(不幸地), they
came across urban management officers(城管). The officers asked them to leave. “We played hide-and-seek with the officers for the whole morning,” said Hu. “Finally we gave up and moved to other place.
Wang Yongyi and her team sold ice cream in a square. They didn’t meet any officers. But few people were interested in what they were selling. The team then put up a board saying the money was to help the “Project Hope” for country kids. It worked. More people came to their stall. A foreigner even gave them 100 yuan.
Meng Zhaoxiang and his team were luckier. They sold all their cakes in four hours, spending 39.5 yuan and getting back 80 yuan. “It was not easy to make the money,” said Meng. “Some people just looked. Others just tasted but didn’t buy.  A habit is any action that we have performed so often that it becomes something that we do almost without thinking. Some of them are thought to be bad habits. People spend countless hours and dollars each year trying to get rid of these bad habits but often fail. Why? Change is hard work and there is no shortcut to achieve it. However, there is still some advice for you to follow.
First, look at why you do it. In other words, what’s the result of doing this thing? If your bad habit is shouting at people when you are unhappy or under pressure, what do you get from it? It may make you feel a little better for the moment. Or maybe yo u have a bad habit of leaving your homework undone. The result could be that you get more time to spend on the Internet!
Next, take a look on the other hand. What are you losing because of your habit? Shouting at other people is a bad habit because it makes people around you feel bad and unhappy. Leaving your homework undone is a bad habit because you may be punished by your teacher. Having more Internet time means that you are losing the chance to learn the things that you need to learn. When you think that way, you’ll find that it’s not wise to keep your bad habit! Now it is time to make a decision. What will you choose? I’m sure you will choose to do what you think is more important.
(      )6. From the first paragraph we know that __________.
 A. a habit is a terrible thing that we can never change

 A. it is not easy to get rid of bad habits   B. there is a long way and a short way
 C. something dangerous may happen      D. we must cut it in a short time.
(      )8. Accor ding to the reading, if you want to get rid of your habits, you have to _____.
 A. talk to others when you are in low spirits B. know why you do what you do
 C. finish your homework first     D. spend less time on the Internet

 A. You are punished later.           B. Making people around you feel unhappy.
 C. You feel a little better after shouting at others.
D. You leave your homework at home by accident.
(      )10. The main purpose of this passage is to __________.

What should you take in with you when you take an exam? Pen, pencil, eraser, ruler…, and don’t forget a bottle of water!
According to a study at the British Psychological ( 心理学的) Society Annual Conference held in London, students who bring water into exams may improve their grades by up to 10 percent.
Scientists at the University of East London and the University of Westminster, UK, did a study on 447 students. The students were studying for different degrees (学历) at the University of East London. Only 25 percent of them entered the exam hall with something to drink.
Scientists then compared their exam results with their normal schoolwork grades. They found that all those who had brought drinks with them got better grades by between 2 and 10 percent.
It is unclear why drinking water improves exam results. But scientists say having enough water in our bodies and not feeling thirsty could have a helpful effect on our brains. Drinking water may also cut down on anxiety ( 焦虑), which has a bad effect on exam performances, according to Chris Pawson, PhD, of the University of East London.
“Whatever the explanation, it is clear that students should try hard to stay hydrated (含水的)with water during exams,” he said.
So next time, when you are going to have a big exam, try bringing a bottle of water with you.Who knows – it may help you pass the exam!

Bamboo is a kind of wild grass. There are more than 1450 species of bamboo that grow across the world. It is hollow, so it is very light.
For thousands of years, bamboo has been used in many different ways—from food to medicine to clothing. It is also used for furniture or man-made building products such as flooring and window covers. However, bamboo is not often used as a building material in the developed world.
Kent Harries, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, sees bamboo as a great building material because of the following.
First, it is strong. The strength of at least three species of bamboo is similar to steel. Besides its strength, Harries says that bamboo has other features that make it a great building material. He says it can keep its shape and strength even under pressure.
Second, it’s very tall. It can grow up to 20 meters and it supports its own weight, even in the strong wind.
Third, bamboo also grows quickly. Bamboo that is suitable for construction needs much less resources than wood. It lives on the rainwater, spring water and sunlight. The harvest cycle of bamboo is about 3 years. Softwoods such as pine (松树) and spruce(云杉) have a harvest cycle of about 10 years. And hardwoods that come from flowering plants such as maple(枫树) and walnut(胡桃树) need more than 30 years.
People usually think bamboo is only for poor people. But in many countries, bamboo is used for building floors and roofs and even beautiful houses.

七、阅读表达  请根据短文内容,回答下面问题 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
If you dropped a piece of fruit on your computer keyboard, would you think about eating it again? What if you dropped it in the toilet? Bacteria (细菌) can live everywhere , even in some unexpected places.
If you eat at your computer, sneeze on your keyboard, or sit down to surf the Internet without first washing your hands, your computer keyboard could be bad for your health. According to the US National Research Centre, the average computer carries 400 times more bacteria than a toilet bowl (抽水马桶) does.
Could one of the dirtiest things in your home be right in your hand? Yes. the TV remote control. It gets dropped on the floor, put on the sofa and everyone in the house holds it. Scientists found that about half of the tested remote controls carry the cold virus (病毒).
Don’t forget your toothbrush. Do you put it in  the bathroom? Studies show that flushing (抽水冲洗) the toilet releases (释放) bacteria in the air. Bacteria can remain in the air for at least two hours. They may pollute your toothbrush. You can find ways to solve this problem. Try to keep your toothbrush far from the toilet. Make sure that it is in an upright position after each use. It’s also important to change your toothbrush every three months.
Here are some other places to watch out for:
At home
The kitchen is one of the places with the most bacteria—more than the bathroom. Dishcloths and kitchen sponges (海绵) are great places for bacteria since they are always wet after being used. Try to make them dry.
At school
When you put your schoolbags on the floor or in the bus, many bacteria can live on the bottom (底部) of it. Try to clean your schoolbag often.
In public places
Escalator handrails (电梯扶手), shopping cart handles (推车手柄), public books and magazines are top bacteria carriers. That’s why the first thing to do when getting home is to wash your hands.
Yes, bacteria are everywhere. But don’t be too afraid to touch those things. Most of bacteria are harmless. Just remember to wash your hands regularly. It is the most useful way to protect yourself from bacteria and viruses.
Answer the following questions with no more than 6 words.
