It’s necessary to give you a blood transfusion(输血) if you badly hurt in an accident. However,
it must be careful. If the blood is too different from your own, it will kill you.
There are four basic types of blood: A, B, AB and O. A simple test can make sure of a person’s blood. Everyone is born with one of these four types of blood. It’s from our parents.
The four groups must be transfused carefully. A and B can’t be mixed. A and B can’t receive
AB, but AB can receive A or B. O can be given to any other group; So it
is called universal donor(捐赠者).Instead, AB is called the universal recipient(接受者) . However,
because so many problems can happen in transfusions, the sick people usually receive only salt of plasma( 血浆) until their blood can be matched as exactly as possible in the blood bank of a hospital . In this way, it’s possible to stop the transfusions from any bad reactions.(反应)

Each country has many good people who help to take care of others. For example, some high school and college students in the USA often spend many hours as volunteers in hospital , orphanages or old people’s homes. They read newspapers to the people on these places, or they just visit them and play games with them or listen to their problems.
Other young volunteers go and work in the homes of people who are sick or old. They paint, clean up, or repair their houses, do their shopping or mow their lawns(草坪). For boys who don’t
have fathers there is an organization called Big Brother. College students and other men take these boys to play basketball or football and help them get to know things that boys usually learn from their father.
Each city has a number of clubs where boys and girls can go to play games or learn crafts (手艺).
Some of clubs show movies or organize short trips to the mountains or other places of interest. Most
 
of these clubs use a lot of high school and college students as volunteers because they are young enough to learn about the problems of younger boys and girls. Volunteers believe that some of the happiest people in the world are those who help to bring happiness to others .
