①When you think of the United States, you may think of big cities like New York City or Los Angeles. But there’s so much natural beauty to enjoy between the busy cities, especially with the coming spring.
②The government turned some beautiful places into national parks to make sure they are protected, and the National Park Service was made in 1916 to take care of them. So what are some of the best ones to see?
③Well, the very first park ever made was Yellowstone National Park (黄石公园) in the states of Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. It has more hot springs (温泉) and geysers than anywhere else in the world, according to National Geographic. Old Faithful is the main attraction, which is a geyser, kind of like a natural fountain that goes off every 1 to 2 hours.
④The Great Smoky Mountains National Park (大雾山国家公园) is the most visited, with over 10 million visitors every year. It includes the southern part of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. Drive along the highway or try out some of the hiking trails.
⑤The next most visited park is in Arizona at the Grand Canyon (大峡谷), and the views are amazing. The canyon is a mile (about 1.6km) deep and can be 18 miles wide, according to the National Park Service. At the bottom, there are rocks that are almost 2 billion years old!
