Period 2 of Unit 6, Oxford English Book 5A

Teaching Aims

1. Could listen, read, say and spell: ring, Maths, help…with….

2. Could understand and say the daily expression and sentence patterns:Are you free now?/How about…?/Can you come and help…with…?/See you this afternoon.

3. Could communicate with each other with the sentence patterns.

4. To enhance Ss' interests of English learning and the abilities of communication

Focal points: To communicate with each other with the daily expressions.

Difficult points:

1. Ss can flexibly apply” Can you come and help…with…?"

2.To communicate with each other with the sentence patterns.

Teaching aids: MP3 Player, word cards and a small Bb.

Teaching procedure:

Step 1 preparation

1 Send greetings.

T: Hello,boys and girls, how are you?

S: Fine, thank you, and you?

T: Hello, S1!

S1: Hello, Mr ....

T: S1, can you tell me, is there an English book on your desk?

S1: Yes, there is.

T: Hello, S2!

S2: Hello, Mr ....

T: Are there any pencils in your pencil box?

S2: Yes, there are./What's in your pencil box?

T: Can I have a look?/There are/a...

S2: Sure.

T: Thank you!

S2: Not at all.

T: Hello, S3.

S3: Hello, Mr ...

T: S4, can you play the piano/the violin?

S3: No, I can't?

T: What can you do?

S3:I Can...

T:OK, very good, boys and girls! Can you sing Do-Re-Me!

Ss:Yes, we can.

T:Ok, Let's sing it together!(Play the song Do-Re-Me)

Ss: ....(Singing)

Sing an English song: Do-Re-ME.

Step 2 Revision

1. Review the words and expressions.

T: Boys and girls, now, we will do a game ---- Guess the words. OK now, please look at the picture carefully.

T:(show the pictures one by one, and then ask someone to read the learned words, afterwards)

T: Now, first, S5, are you ready?

S4: Yes.

T: Ok, look at it carefully. (Show the picture quickly)

T: OK,. Every one of you did very well,

2. Teacher does the actions about (sing dance play the violin.. play the piano, ski, skate. etc) and ask: (Gradually change the different movements) and meanwhile ask the Ss

T: What is Mr ... doing? Let's say it together.

Ss: Mr ... is –ing….

Step 3 Presentation and drill

Lead in

T: Now, please open your books, boys and girls, please turn to page 44 and 45, today we are going to learn Part A. Unit 6 Doing housework(Boarding) let's look at the picture together!

T: What can you see in the picture? Boys and girls.

S12: There is a telephone…,

T: Is there a telephone, sofa, a computer, a chair? where is the telephone/sofa?

T:First listen to the mp3 of this lesson. (Play the record of this text)Then read after me (Read the text)

1 Talk about the picture, teach the phrase and the word: at home, housework, do housework, do homework. ((Boarding)—Ss read after me)

1) Make the telephone ring.

Teach the word: ring 

(T: The telephone is ringing. ring (Boarding)

2) Drill: Add two words: wing, king (The students try to read or spell them according to the pronunciation rules.)

Teaching of the sentence pattern:

Dialogue:

T: S5, Ding…. Hello, Is that…?

2.Let’s look at picture 2 on page 45, In this picture, Nancy is doing her Maths(Boarding) but she can't do it.

Teach the phrase: help…with…

T: Oh, I can't do my homework; I’d like to ask S6 for help. Can you help me?

Ni:Yes, I can..

T: Very good, S6 can help me with my homework.. help…with…(Boarding)

3.Drill: The using of the phrase: help …with… (Make phrases) e.g. Mr ... can help you with your English. (Boarding)

4 Practice: The sentence pattern: Can you come and help… with …? (Boarding)

Step 4 Practice

1 Get the students look at the picture and talk about the picture.

2 Look and listen to the Multimedia Computer. Play the audio program of Part A

3 Do the exercise: Ask & Answer

4 Check the answer.

5 The students read after the MP3

Step 5 Consolidation

1 The teacher act out a dialogue with a student as a model.

2 The students Act out the dialogue in pairs. (Pair works)

3. Finish the Exercise.

Step 6 Homework

1 Try to make a call with your friends or your teachers.

2 Read the text and the new words after class.

3 Recite this dialogue, and next week I will ask someone to act out their dialogues.
