Teaching procedures:

Step1. Lead-in:

1. Look at a picture of a ghost and ask Ss what they think of it? Then teach the word ‘ghost’.

2. Ask Ss: 1. Are there any ghosts in the world?

2. Are you afraid of ghosts?

3. Do you like reading Ghost Story?

4. Have you ever listened to any ghost stories?

5. Do you believe there is a ghost?

Step2. Presentation:

1.       Tell Ss the plot of the story. Listen carefully and tell me if there is a ghost or not.

2.       Task 1: Fast reading

(1)    Read the text carefully and tell me what the ghost was.

(2)    Correct Millie’s sentences(Page 64)

3.       Task 2: Read the text out and put the text into 4 parts.

     Part1.  (‘One Sunday morning~~ they were frightened’)

     Part2.  (‘Is anybody there ~~ Andy said’)

     Part3.  (‘Millie told ~~ like a whisper.’)

Part4.  (‘Andy put~~ any more.’)

4.       Divide Ss into four groups and each group finish one task..

 Part1. When did it happen?

     Where did it happen?

     Who went to Sunshine Park?

     What did they do as usual?

     What happened suddenly?

     How did they feel?

Part2. What did they do after hearing the strange noise?

     Who did they tell the strange thing?

Part3. Who told Andy everything?

     Where did the strange voice come from?

     Who made the strange voice?

     Why did the little cat sound like a ghost?

Part4. Where did Andy put the little cat?

     How were Millie and Andy when they saw the little cat?

     Where did they take the little cat?

     Did they go to the park again?

Step3. Practice:

1.       Task3: Read the text for a third time and fill in the blanks.

2.       Task4: Put the sentences into the right order.

3.       Words undersanding:

Choose the correct answer

Match the word with its meaning

Fill in the blanks with the words given to you.

Step4. Production:

1.       Retell the story with the help of some key words and phrases.

2.       Discuss: Are there any ghosts in the world?

Step5. Homework:

     1.  Try to remember all the new words and phrases.

     2.  Read the story at least three times.

     3.  Do some exercises.
